My Favorite Places to Write

Apologies for another rather uninspired post, I’m still working through some of my list of blogging prompts at the moment!

I think I might have ADHD or something. Maybe you got that from my Daily Routine post. When I was younger, focus just came to me so easily, and now if the slightest distraction happens I’m totally out of what I’m doing and have a hard time getting back into it. I don’t know if this is a more serious problem that I should look into, but it’s made me really think more about which places I do well getting a lot of writing done in…

One is my desk, obviously. I usually start the day with my laptop in bed though having my coffee before moving to the desk. If I have a lot of work ahead of me though and need to focus even though my brain doesn’t want to, sitting at my desk with Spotify on usually does the trick at least for a couple of hours.

The library is another great place to work. I haven’t done too much of this recently due to COVID, I’m not a crazy anti-mask person, but I just can’t bring myself to wear one all day to sit in the library if I could sit at home and well, not. But if you’re looking for quiet this is obviously a good choice.

Starbucks weirdly keeps me focused even though there is a lot of background noise. I don’t know how that makes sense, or if I really force myself to get work done because I just want to be there having Starbucks drinks badly enough, but it works for me!

This last one might seem a little weird but…A hotel room. Not the lobby or a conference room or something just the room. If it’s a nice hotel and everything is comfortable, the peace and quiet and not having to make the bed, clean anything, etc… just really puts me in a good frame of mind for writing. Since staying at a hotel costs money, I really haven’t done a lot of this, but when I have done a sort of staycation just to get away for a bit I’ve gotten so much writing work done and it’s great.
