It’s another week of me trying to understand fashion and actually figure out my personal style, and I think I made some more progress! If you aren’t sure what this is all about, you can read my longwinded intro here, otherwise keep reading to see what I wore all week plus my thoughts.

I knew I’d be spending the day working from home and running errands, so it was another day of wanting to try some new outfit with what I have in my closet, but not wanting to go too crazy if I’d just be home working, getting my nails done, and doing some shopping (Target, Nordstrom Rack, and Walmart.)
Likes: Pretty much everything, except like I said last week, I would probably switch out this bag. This was a good casual look for what my day entailed, but I could see dressing it up a little bit more depending on what I’m doing with straight leg jeans and a jacket, necklaces, my hair down, etc… For today though, I liked most everything about this.
Meh: This shirt is really oversized and I bunched it up and tucked it in my pocket. I couldn’t figure out how to tie it otherwise and it would have looked weird just tucked into the pants. I liked how it looked, but as I struggle to find something “meh” for this outfit, I’d have to say I wouldn’t complain if I knew of a better way to style the shirt.
Dislikes: Really nothing except the guy in Walmart that cat called me thanks to these jeans.

I planned my outfit today around the fact that I was going out for drinks after work with colleagues from my now part-time/remote office job. I wanted to wear something a little nicer, basically on par with what everyone else would be wearing where I knew they’d be coming from work. Unfortunately, I ended up with a bad tension headache that seemed like it was heading toward migraine territory (it was, ugh), and in trying to feel better I changed out of this and into jeans and a sweatshirt. It was fine that I was dressed so casually really, but it was frustrating because I did pick out an actual outfit to wear. Also, migraines are the worst.
Likes: I like the dress for what I bought it for, which was working in an office. I actually ordered this online the day or two before I committed to the decision to freelance full time, so I only really purchased it with the intention of wearing it to work. I do think it’s cute though, I’d just need to work on styling it outside of work, I’m thinking maybe ankle boots and a denim jacket could work?
Meh: I didn’t know what shoes to wear with it so I went with very 2000s-looking flats that I otherwise only wear on the rare occasion I go to the office.
Dislikes: Migraines and just not really knowing how to style this dress now that I don’t feel so limited by a day job.

When I came home the night before with a migraine, it was very clear to me that I needed to stay in bed away from all sources of light and get my head better. It was still a little sore when I woke up this morning, which definitely affected what I wore and threw off my whole morning routine. Normally I wake up around 6 AM, make a cup of coffee to have while I work for a bit, then I hop on the Peloton, shower/get dressed, make breakfast, get my desk set up for the workday and eat at my desk, then I do Maui’s morning diabetes routine before really getting into work for the day. Today I slept in until it was time to take care of Maui, so I threw on this cropped tee/leggings set from Old Navy and did not bother with hair/makeup or anything else.
Likes: I like how this looks for what it is. When I first started working from home full time I bought a lot of new leggings and tops because I really just wanted something that would feel more put together than pajamas but still be comfortable if I knew I wasn’t leaving the house. This serves that purpose but there are some things I don’t love about the leggings especially (see ‘Dislikes’).
Meh: I don’t think there are any ‘mehs’ for this one.
Dislikes: I bought a bunch of leggings from Old Navy recently because everyone keeps talking about how great they are for the price. They all 100% do not work with my thighs. If I buy my normal size, they fall down on the waist because my normal size is really sizing up to accommodate my thighs, and if I go down a size I can’t get them on over my thighs. These are okay to wear on days like this where I know I’m mostly going to be sitting at a desk, but I can’t really work out in these because they fall down so easily and I’d have to constantly be pulling them up.

Remembering how much I liked the t-shirt dress last week (except the print) I picked up this solid black t-shirt dress actually when I was at Walmart the day I got catcalled. I never really buy clothes at Walmart, but I just saw this dress and thought it might work well.
Likes: It’s comfortable. And it serves the purpose I put it on for, which is that I’m working from home and not planning on leaving the house, but in the off chance I do run to the store or something, or if someone video calls me from work I’d be good to go.
Meh: The dress itself is nothing special. I know it’s just a t-shirt dress so I’m not sure what I was expecting, but I really loved the way the other t-shirt dress looked on my body, I just didn’t love the print. This one is fine, but it doesn’t look as good as the other one to me.
Dislikes: How is the mirror dirty when I cleaned it like 10 hours ago? I guess if I were wearing this out for the day I wouldn’t really know how to style it and would have to figure out a bag, jewelry, etc… No real dislikes though for wearing this on a rainy day working from home.

Every other Friday I work a longer day than usual to catch up on anything I want to get done for Monday’s invoice, so I knew I would not be leaving the house today and didn’t feel like dressing up too much. I just wore a basic t-shirt and leggings, and originally planned on no makeup but later threw some on when I remembered I had a meeting today (whoops!)
Likes: The overall idea of this look and that these leggings fit properly unlike the ones from earlier in the week where I’d be constantly pulling them up.
Meh: I think a solid colored shirt would have worked better with the leggings having the stripe on the side, but this is fine. I have the same shirt in black and mint but they’re both in the laundry now so I grabbed this one.
Dislikes: Nothing really, it’s obviously not an exciting outfit but it’s comfortable and would work if I did run out for a quick last-minute errand.

I went to the beach for a couple of hours, and planned on wearing the outfit on the left, just a bathing suit with those new shorts I got over it. I really liked how it looked, but where the shorts were a little tight I thought it’d be uncomfortable so I changed into the black dress over the suit instead. I really liked how the shorts looked though, so if the shorts end up stretching out or I pick up a similar pair, I would probably do that.
Likes: I preferred the look with the shorts, but I do love the black dress, too. It’s really comfortable, which was more the priority for a day at the beach, and I liked how you can change it up with the straps or undoing some of the buttons.
Meh: It’s annoying these shorts are tight.
Dislikes: None really.
While at the beach, I got the call from my mom that Papa wasn’t doing well, so we left and went to my parents’ house to see him for the rest of the day, and he ended up passing on Monday. Between being emotionally exhausted and taking time off from freelancing this past week, I’m going to take some time for myself away from any extra writing and will be back probably at the end of next week.
