I’ve been thinking about getting back into writing some monthly favorites posts (since I think it’s been literally years since I’ve written any of these!) and what better time to get back into it than October?! This month has been packed with fall activities, movies, some new products I love, and more, so let’s get into it.
Fall Activities
I made a fall bucket list in my junk journal earlier in the season, and while I don’t think I’ll be able to get through everything on the list, it looks like we’re going to get pretty close! I don’t know if my work schedule will allow time for apple picking this year as we’re nearing the end of the season, but Josh and I have spent a couple of days in Salem.
We went to the Haunted Happenings Grand Parade, Howl-o-ween Pet Parade, and spent another day just walking around since Josh hasn’t really been downtown for many of the Halloween events.
We also went to the Topsfield Fair this year, something we haven’t done since we’ve been together. Josh has never been to any kind of fair, so it was fun to walk around and check it out with him. Neither of are huge ride people (at least in that setting, I like Disney rides of course, but the traveling carnival-type rides, ehh…) but we had some fair food and checked out the animals and giant pumpkins.
We also went pumpkin picking at Connor’s Farm so we could find the perfect ones to carve on Halloween! I think I actually like pumpkin picking more than apple picking anyway (probably because…I’m allergic to apples. Disclaimer; It’s oral allergy syndrome, it just makes my mouth itchy so sometimes I eat them anyway but it does make picking them less fun than picking other things!)
Fall Fashion
You may remember about a year or so ago, I began seriously exploring what my taste in fashion would be like without feeling the restriction of trying to justify clothes that could also be worn to an office job and feeling (at least partially self-imposed) doubts about finding my size in-store. I’ve been mostly doing online shopping and trying out services like Stitch Fix, but this month I really leaned into fall fashion and found a couple of things I really liked.
I’ve been trying to figure out what colors I like for my nails during fall aside from just defaulting to black like I usually do, and I’ve been really liking these dark grey-ish brown tones. On the clothing front, I’ve been looking for more neutral colors and sweaters that I think would work well for fall and transition nicely for the holidays and I found the sweater above during a recent trip to H&M.

Fall Shopping
I haven’t done a ton of shopping this fall other than picking up my usual favorite fall scents from Bath & Body Works (the fireside candle is the best!)
The only other notable purchases I made came during a trip to Burlington where I was searching for Disney Parks merchandise. I’ve seen lots of TikToks lately where people are finding some really great items from Walt Disney World, including Dooney & Bourke bags, Minnie ear headbands, spirit jerseys, and more.
I captured everything I found in the video above, but the biggest score in my opinion was the Snow White Dooney! I honestly wouldn’t have purchased the wristlet when it came out (I think last year), but I have a newfound love for Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937) since watching it both as part of our Great Movie Ride movie marathon and for our new podcast. And since Burlington had it marked down to $29.99, I couldn’t resist!
I think that’s all for my October favorites, but I plan on writing another wrap-up like this in November so let’s check in again then!
